We are praying for you and believing that God is meeting you during this time. As the nation starts to slowly transition into the new normal, we pray that God will give you fresh hope and peace.
Our world has changed, but our mission remains the same. We are seeking the Lord's wisdom on how we can spread the good news of Jesus this summer and beyond. This has been very difficult since things have been rapidly changing. The following have influenced our decision making:
- Seeking the Lord regarding His plans for us
- CDC announcements, health concerns, and protocols regarding COVID-19
- Following government directives and engaging them in conversations
- Considering the health of our campers, staff, and their families
- Considering all financial planning
- Current status of campus needs
- Considering creative solutions and alternative means of ministry
- Connecting with other camps regarding their current methods
Currently, Governor Hutchinson has issued a directive that camps will not be allowed this summer, with plans to re-evaluate by May 31st. We have been in contact with the Arkansas Department of Health to discuss this in detail, and we have had some encouraging conversations. However, due to everything involved in preparing for camp, we do not foresee the possibility of having camp in June. We are aiming to make a decision about camp in July by June 1st, at the latest. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Our hearts are sad, but we are covered with a sense of peace that God is near in this time, and He is working all things together for good. It pains us to think of not connecting with our campers face to face but we will continue to keep you updated with alternative ways we are expanding our reach.
One of these ways is our new program called Solgohachia At Home. This is an excellent way for your kids to experience the love of Jesus, connect with counselors, and have a great time. It is everything we do at camp in the context of home. The initial feedback has been very encouraging. Please consider ordering and participating in this program as a way to provide financial support during this time.
We understand there are many practical questions that will arise from this decision. The staff is working on how we will handle this change and will send out another email giving more guidance in the near future. For now, we'll be freezing all new registrations for our summer events pending a final decision to be made by June 1st, at the latest.
Please feel free to reach out to us and ask any questions. We love you and are here for you!
